The President of the Republic of Narsora (Spanish: Presidente de la República de Narsora, is the head of state and the head of government of the Republic of Narsora. The President is responsible for both government and state administration. The President is elected by direct ballot; when an absolute majority of the votes validly cast. A two-round system is used. In order to win the election in the first round, the winning candidate's party must receive more than 50 percent of the valid votes leaving out of the count blank and spoiled votes.

Requirements

As per the Constitution, the requirements for becoming president are;

  • The candidate must be a Natural-born-citizen of the country.
  • Candidate must be at least 35 years old.

Term Duration

Prior to 1990, presidents were allowed unlimited terms to run for the office - a candidate could run for re-election an unlimited number of times. This was reformed in November 1990 after that years general election to two consecutive, four year terms.

The Incumbent president, in accordance with the constitution, completes their term on November 6 of the immediate year of the election. The President-elect takes office the same day.

Pay and official residences

The President is paid a salary according to a defined pay grade in comparison to the pay grades of most senior members of the Narsoran Civil Service. In relativity to other sectors of the civil service, the president's salary is around 25% higher than the highest paid to other members of the government.

The official residence and office of the president is the Palacio de Ríos in Narsora City. Other residences and locations used by the president include:

  • The Hotel de Terrazas; located 1.9 km (1.2 mi) from the Palacio de Ríos, houses foreign official guests;
  • The president's vacation residence La Tee So'fa Lala (Green Land of Peace) is the presidential vacation residence located in the city of Tíapa which is approximately 35 minutes south of the Palacio de Ríos.
