The Leftist Assembly is one of the largest leftist regions in NationStates, founded on 14 January 2016 to unite all leftists under a common banner. The region is generally government-focused, with the Secretary of the Assembly serving as its executive, The General Assembly as its mixed appointed and elected legislature and the Ministry of Law as its judiciary.

History

The Leftist Assembly was established on 14 January 2016 as a merger between The Communist Region and The Democratic Socialist Union due to stagnated growth and the desire for a unified and revitalised leftist region. The Constitution was ratified on 21 February 2016 and the Code of Laws came into effect on 2 March 2016. The region's first WA Delegate was technically Celera, but considering their tenure lasted mere hours on 26 January 2016, the first proper Delegate is generally considered to be Locksmithia, who reigned from 26 January to 7 March 2016. The first Secretary, the newly established elected leader of the region, was Atealia. The first Act to pass the General Assembly was the Electoral Reform Act, proposed by Cedoria and passed 8-1 by the 3rd General Assembly.

The General Assembly is in its 5th term.

Government

The General Assembly is the legislative body for the government of The Leftist Assembly. It consists of nine members, and laws and amendments may be proposed by any member. For this to be ratified, it must receive a simple majority vote and an endorsement by the Secretary. Should it fail to receive this endorsement, a super majority vote of 70% may be attempted to ratify it. Each of the positions is elected through the alternative voting system. Terms last for 3 months, and elections begin at the end of their respective month (March, June, September, or December).

There are five ministries, in addition to the Secretary and Prime Minister, that are each headed by a Minister, except for the Ministry of Law, which has a Chief, First and Second Justice. The following are the nations that currently fill these positions:

Military

The United Armed Forces are the game-play military force tasked with defending The Leftist Assembly and actively participating in foreign military operations when necessary. The organisation "seeks to serve and protect the people" and tasks itself with "defending the people's revolution". Essentially, the organisation aims to protect and spread the influence of leftism in the wider NationStates community. The force is led by Commander-in-Chief Atealia and Field Commander The Final Horseman.
