the Rejected Realms

The Rejected Realms is one of four Sinker regions and the primary ejection-free zone in NS. When a nation is ejected, it is automatically moved from the region it was ejected from and into the Rejected Realms. It is impossible to eject a nation from the Rejected Realms, which makes an invasion much different than in other regions.

The Realms has its own defender force, the RRA, or Rejected Realms Army, and publishes a periodic newspaper chronicling events in NationStates, The Rejected Times.

Government and Military

The region is democratic at heart. Elections for the position of World Assembly Delegate are held every six months, with challenges allowed.

The current Regional Delegate is Kyorgia. The known chronological list of Delegates runs Sagar to Louldamin to Dogwhores to Louldamin to Gres to MrNonchalant to The Holy Manatee to Kandarin to Jennivier to Kandarin to Red Kagran to Kandarin to Emperor Matthuis to Kandarin to Aegara to Kandarin to Sedgistan to Guy to Collector of Souls to Oud-Heverlee Leuven to Collector of Souls to Frattastan II to Unibot III to Guy to Libetarian Republics to The Church of Satan to Catalyse to Wabbitslayah to Frattastan IV to Kyorgia. Kandarin is by far the longest-serving Delegate, holding the post for nearly seven years (minus a few days due to raider incursions) before handing his nation off to Naivetry who held the position for less than a year before handing the delegacy off to Sedgistan, who became the region's first constitutional Delegate.

Prior to Gres' delegacy (May 2003-June 2003) the RR was controlled by various invaders. Gres, upon becoming Delegate, organized the RRA; however it behaved in a rather hostile fashion and Gres was eventually ejected from the UN for sharing his computer with a friend. After a brief occupation (again) by foreign invaders, the delegacy returned to native hands. The first RR government, set up in July 2003 by Kandarin, Jennivier, Lies Incorporated, Marxysylvania, Siggi, and a few other natives, didn't last long. It died out quickly due to apathy.

Founded originally by Gres as an invader group with the goal of raiding the former regions of its ejected members, the RRA was a controversial figure early on. To combat Atlantic Alliance propaganda, the RRA eventually became a defender organization.

Trends

The Rejected Realms is a gargantuan region, with a massive community, boasting over 7118 member nations. The Rejected Realms is also feared by World Assembly members everywhere, with votes from 289 member nations.

In The Rejected Realms, denizens scatter at the sight of strangers and are careful to keep carefully blank faces when approached. Political freedoms are extended only to close friends and relatives of the leaders of the region's governments. The almost total lack of economic activity in the country is a constant sore spot for politicians. Inhabitants rarely are visited by the tax collector, and the region boasts a paltry median tax rate of -1%. The economies of nations in the region tend to be dominated by the private sector, with on average only -1% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is low priority for governments, accounting for an average of -1% of public expenditure, although commerce is generally seen as a source of tax revenue.

Denizens of the The Rejected Realms are poorly educated, with rampant illiteracy. Criminality is rife within the region, with law enforcement struggling to cope. Governments allocate a meagre -1%, on average, of their budgets to law and order. Denizens have small defense forces. Public transport is an afterthought, with only -1% of total government budgets in the region being devoted to it.

Governments in The Rejected Realms find themselves in a constant state of disarray, with very little co-ordination, only -1% on average of government budgets being devoted to Administration. Some government provision is made for healthcare, but at an average of only -1% the provision for healthcare in the region is paltry. No welfare is provided in the region. Those unlucky enough to fall into unemployment are forgotten and abandoned. Spirituality is a moderate priority of governments within the region, with-1% of government budgets being devoted to Spirituality.

Social inequality is rife amongst the nations within The Rejected Realms. The environments of the nations in the region are almost universally appalling.

Kandy's BBQ and Grill

Shortly after Gres went off to coup The East Pacific, the region was invaded by MrNonchalant, who was at the time the Commander of Atlantic Central Command of Atlantic Alliance. MrNonchalant quickly redid what Louldamin, the first ACC (Atlantic Central Command) settler Delegate in the region had done. He declared that TRR's status as a forward base of Atlantic had never ended, and linked a new forum on the WFE. It is not known what happened shortly after, but the delegacy was taken by The Holy Manatee, who shortly after, griefed TRR by putting lewd messages on the region's WFE. Only 12 hours later, the reign of Kandarin would begin.

A Lieutenant in the RRA and Gres' right hand man, Kandarin was perfect for the delegacy. In his words, he was not interested in military gameplay and wanted to only secure The Rejected Realms. He took the delegacy on either June 18, 2003 or June 19, 2003, and held it with only five interruptions from invaders until his retirement from NationStates on October 3, 2010. He gave his nation to Naivetry on October 3rd, 2010, and she became known as "Kandarin the Younger" and became the Delegate of TRR. She served as Delegate from October 3, 2010 to August 13, 2011. However, she was challenged early on. Many saw her as illegitimate, and held this viewpoint until she was formally elected on January 18, 2011.

Before his retirement, Kandarin oversaw the creation of multiple different governments for TRR. However, none of them lasted. Despite this, Kandarin made his mark on The Rejected Realms as a benevolent and wise Delegate. Some nations appreciated him so much that they began to refer to TRR as Kandyland. Thus, Kandy's BBQ and Grill was born.

Kandy's BBQ and Grill was a theme that The Rejected Realms went by and ocassionally roleplays today. TRR was known as Kandyland, and internally it was roleplayed as Kandarin's BBQ and Grill by those who looked up to Kandarin. It was later adopted officially by Kandarin, even he would roleplay as the region's bartender and BBQ master on the RMB, which was known as the Civil Headquarters back in his time.

These days, Kandarin is officially celebrated in The Rejected Realms. He is honored every year with Kandarin Day, has awards named after him, is in the region's Hall of Fame, and the logo of The Rejected Times' podcast, Rejected Radio, is a metal version of the phoenix on his flag.
