Rutian (race)

The Rutian race appears human, however, there are some differences.

Flight

Some Rutians have wings and can take flight. These Rutians, accounting for maybe 17% of the Rutian population, are almost always hunters. Not only have their genetics allowed for wings, their eyesight and hearing are greatly altered.

Pure Rutian

There is no such thing as a pure Rutian. With each world that the Rutianas Empire claimed, the native life was taken into the fold and mixed breeding occured. The winged Rutians are a prime example. A race called Pandati was all but wiped out, but due to mixed breeding the trait of wings survived.

Even through the mixed genetics, the Imperial House of Darson claim that they are the only holders of pure Rutian blood, however, try as hard as he may, Shein Darson cannot always hide the fact that he has wings.

Eyes

The one mark that many know to identify a Rutian is the multicolored eyes that they have. However, many Rutians have learned to control their eye color. Those that haven't learned or have worn themselves down cannot control the odd shifting of eye color. Unlike hazel eyes which seem to change based on color nearby, a Rutian's eyes will shift at a rapid pace between different colors. Some of the color combinations are as follows:

1. Blue-Green-Brown 2. Blue-Purple-Green 3. Dark Blue-Light Blue-Grey 4. Red-Blue-Yellow

The most common of those four is the first. The most rare is the last. When the eyes shift color,, they seem to take on different shades in between, but the flickering between the three colors is a clear indication of Rutian genetics at work. The trait seems to be dominant and has shown up in all but 1% of Rutians.
