Sjurd Haakonsson (born 14 August 1990) is the first and current Chancellor of the Haakonson Empire, in command since 2030 following the Great World War and is also the Holy God Emperor of Sjurdland. Before leading the new empire, he was a member of the Schutzstaffel, a modern paramilitary organization modeled after Germany's Schutzstaffel in WWII. Under the command of Haakonsson, the Schutzstaffel led the rebel groups to successfully overthrowing all governments in the Americas.
Haakonsson was born in 1990 in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway. After his parents were killed by refugees during holiday in mainland Norway in 2007, Haakonsson relocated to the United States of America later in 2007. Though not yet a citizen, he became involved with the Libertarian Party in 2008 before joining the Republican Party in 2015 to help Donald J. Trump win his bid for presidency. Haakonsson was elected mayor of Presque Isle, Maine in 2018 and was credited with turning the little city of 9,000 residents into a large city and bringing industry to an all time high. He passed resolutions in 2019 that forbid any refugees, non-English and non-French speaking peoples, and non-whites from settling in the city. He was impeached in 2020, but efforts were struck down. He was known to the media as "Adolf Haakonsson" due to his ties and similarities to Nazi Germany. Nonetheless, before the Great World War he held an approval rating of 99.5% and was considered the most effective leader of any jurisdiction in the Americas.
As the Great World War broke out following the election of a new Democratic Party in the US Government in 2024, Haakonsson built an army of about 300 men to defend the state of Maine (and some of the neighboring Canadian towns in Quebec and New Brunswick). As the war grew, so did Haakonsson's political and warfare powers. By 2029 his personal army, the Schutzstaffel, had grown to over 3,000,000 strong. The Schutzstaffel was responsible for mass genocide and extermination of non-white non-Christians in the New England, Quebec, and maritime provinces. During this time, Haakonsson built a strong relationship with the leadership of Korgistan, a new and powerful government controlling a large portion of Alaska, Canada, and the northern United States leading to the creation of the Confederation of Sovereign National Socialist States in 2030. This new confederation, later renamed and restructured as Sjurdland, lead to the full control of North and South America.
Upon recognition by the World Assembly, the Haakonsson Empire was created and Sjurd Haakonsson became the immediate and supreme ruler. He is a close friend of Lincoln Rockwell, the leader of the Armed Reich of Korgistan, a national socialist reich located in the former western United States.
