South Staynes is a country within Great Morstaybishlia. It exists in central Aurora and is best known by its luscious deciduous forests, the Zycannes and its cold, jagged coastline. It recorded a population of 166.384 million people in its 2019 census. It's capital city is Kirdintayos, but its largest city by population is Aegis with a population of 3.16 million people. Its neighbours are Staynes, Axdel and Ethalria. The Island of Eskomia in the Azure Sea is the oldest southern-Auroran settled island and is officially considered a part of the country. It neighbours Tuvaltastan, Nilovia & Dragonia.
South Staynes declared independence as a sovereign state from Morstaybishlia on the 6th of June, 1975, during a spout of post-war depression. In 1977, the country signed a political union with the United Kingdom of Morstaybishlia to form the United Kingdom of Great Morstaybishlia.
Within independence from Morstaybishlia and the Acts of Union 1977, whilst a completely independent nation from Morstaybishlia, still bore the same head of state, Galfridus. This was purely a constitutional role.
Income inequality
South Staynes has always suffered with income disparity. In 2016, about 30 percent of the population were under the national average. A system integration program was established in 2005 to try and sway more people to move to urbanised areas and live above or at minimum wage according to UNAC standards. However, this has only resulted in a small percentage of people converting.
History
The area now known as South Staynes has seen the most border change on Aurora. It has been under the control of the Kormistazmic Empire, the Tuke Empire, Kingdom of Sztahynz, Kingdom of Staynnica, Kingdom of Staynes, the Ethalrian Empire, the Xagrurgian Empire, several lesser known kingdoms, thousands of microstates, cities and kingdoms and the Morstaybishlian Empire.
