Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.857 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Commerce, although Law & Order and Defence are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Nexus. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 79%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Arms Manufacturing, and Gambling industries.

The government struggles to keep up with the endless list of petrol disasters, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, glittering new sports stadiums adorn every city and town, and curtailed social programs have left many citizens bereft of any safety net. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Starkiller101's national animal is the wookie, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is 9 Divines, and its currency is the Credit.
