The Altalandian Empire was by far the most successful sovereign located in the Altaland region. It was a staple in the histories of The United States of Mexregiona, The Second Republic of Tretrid, and the State of Marpa. Some artifacts even point to its sphere of influence stretching all the way to the Southern Isles of Atlae.
Led by the general Africanus, the Empire went from a typical faction to the superpower of Western Atlantia. Under and after his reign, the proto-nation saw the falling of two sovereigns and the severe weakening of two others. The army and navy were so powerful that navies around the Urth are now based upon its operations, especially Mexregiona's. At the height of its strength, it had completely conquered eighteen major islands, the majority of two others, and controlled large chunks of the Atlantian mainland. After the eventual death of Africanus, however, the Empire fell through into a coup. Due to this, only parts of the nation could be protected by the national navy, so factions arose out of the ashes. At one point in time, the Empire had shattered into eight distinct jurisdictions, each separated from the other and some even warring for territory. After the course of a few decades, though, the nation managed to glue together again into the Altalandian Confederacy. This confederacy was the prehistoric start for the nation of Mexregiona, which would officially come to be in 2016 A.D. under President Mister Leader I.
