'''The Leftist Assembly election, March 2016''' was the first election in [[Region/The Leftist Assembly|The Leftist Assembly]] and voting was held in various stages from 3 to 27 March. This election was the first and last to run under the multi-party system, with the Solidarity Party, Worker's Army Party, and Independent Leftist Front contesting most individual positions and the General Assembly.

Essentially, candidates were nominated for different positions (they could also run for multiple positions) by their parties, or they could run as independents. In addition to this, there was an additional vote to award each party a number of seats out of the total 100 in the General Assembly, where new legislation was passed.

Voting in the first stage of the election on the positions of Secretary, Prime Minister, Minister of Law, and Minister of Archives was held from 3 to 6 March. This was followed by a run-off second-round vote for the Minister of Archives from 6 to 8 March. Candidates could either run as independents or be nominated by their party for individual positions, with Locksmithia being the only candidate who nominated for two roles. The individuals elected were Atealia as Secretary of the Assembly, Auven as Prime Minister, Fidels Beard as Minister of Archives, New Prague Workers Republic as Chief Justice, Celera as First Justice, and Devadia as Second Justice.

In the case of Minister of Archives, a tight race between three candidates prompted a second round, which eventually resulted in the instalment of the single transferable voting system following the election.

In addition to the elected positions, each party was placed into a poll whereupon the number of votes received of the total number of votes would give them a certain equivalent percentage of the 100 seats in the General Assembly. In the General Assembly, parties would put forward a stance on each issue as one body, not represented by individuals of that party. The percentage of the total 35 votes was as follows:

The Leftist Assembly election, March 2016 was the first election in The Leftist Assembly and voting was held in various stages from 3 to 27 March. This election was the first and last to run under the multi-party system, with the Solidarity Party, Worker's Army Party, and Independent Leftist Front contesting most individual positions and the General Assembly.

Following their election, Secretary Atealia appointed Cedoria as Minister of Defence, Lightmine as Minister of Immigration and Customs, and Khasinkonia as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Voting in the second stage of the election for the 1st General Assembly was held from 24 to 27 March. The 100 seats of the General Assembly were distributed proportionally to the primary votes of each of the three contesting parties. While no party obtained a majority, the Solidarity Party emerged with the most seats on 43. No formal coalition was formed following the election.

Methodology

Voting

To be eligible to vote, a nation must be part of the World Assembly and reside in The Leftist Assembly. The voter awarded their one vote to their preferred candidate, otherwise known as first-past-the-post voting, on a Google Forms document created by United States of Unfreedom.

Counting

The election moderators were British Accia, Atealia, and United States of Unfreedom. Votes were counted using the first-past-the-post voting system. In this system, the candidate with the most amount of primary votes wins. In the case of the Minister of Law election, second and third place also receive positions, First and Second Justice respectively. In the case of Minister of Archives, a tight race between three candidates prompted a second round, which eventually resulted in the instalment of the alternative voting system following the election.
