Thermae Holdings Private Limited (often abbreviated as Thermae) is the largest and primary holding company of all State-Owned Enterprises in the United Colonies. It is owned by the Government of the United Colonies and was established on February 3rd 1621. It is also the largest shareholder and investor in Aldia, managing the portfolios of all SOEs in Aldia as well as hundreds of private companies amounting up to a net portfolio of more than cR220 trillion. In 2017 Thermae divested approximately cR17 trillion and invested cR33 trillion in various businesses & services. Approximately 60% of its investments were directed towards SOEs, 25% to private enterprises and the remaining 15% to Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Its investments are guided by three key themes: ensure accessibility & affordability of all public goods and services, reduce income inequality and growing lower-income populations. Thermae Holdings maintains control over all SOEs on behalf of the Government of the United Colonies through either absolute or majority ownership of an SOE's shares. Thermae has also obtained shares of many private companies whose vision and goal fit with Thermae's three guiding policies. Thermae has offices in both the inner and outer colonies of Aldia with three headquarters: the primary Thermae Head Office on Aldia, the secondary Thermae Headquarters on Prosperity, and the tertiary Thermae Frontier Center on Harvest.
Thermae was established by the Government of the United Colonies to manage all SOEs on behalf of the Interstellar Commerce Commission (ICC) which would allow the ICC to focus on economic policy making. Although the lone shareholder of Thermae is the Interstellar Commerce Commission, Thermae has its own board of directors, a professional management team, pays taxes which contributes to government revenue and distributes dividends to its shareholders (ICC). It is subject to all laws, regulations and practices set forth by the ICC and the Financial Services Authority. A large portion of Thermae's revenue is directed to support the Pension Fund of the United Colonies whose contribution comprise up to 65% of the Pension Fund's budgetary requirements.
