The Ultimo Basamento, often referred to as the "Miracle at Sul", was a last stand by President Bananá's 2nd Federal Legion in the Sullic Mountain Range against a Platacian invasion force that was sent to capture the Plantañan capital and put an end to the Bananish War of Independence. Bananá's untrained militia were outnumbered and underequipped, but still managed to drive back the significantly more powerful Platacian force, with both sides taking extremely heavy casualties. The battle is generally seen as the turning point of the war, when Federal troops began retaking land from the Platacians, eventually driving them from the island and forcing them to admit defeat.
