The United Nations (also called the UN or NSUN) is the international organization that preceded the World Assembly in NationStates. It ceased to exist on April 1, 2008, after the RL UN reputedly served Max Barry with a cease and desist notice to stop using that organization's name and flag.

NSUN operated much in the same way that the present-day WA General Assembly operates, with the same proposal rules and game functions. (There was no Security Council at the time.) The UN used a flag that resembled the RL UN flag, except that it used a royal blue background as opposed to the RL organization's iconic sky-blue shade. All resolutions passed under the NSUN are now catalogued as "Historical Resolutions" on the NS site; they are no longer in force.
