University of Atlantis

The University of Atlantis is a public university located in Atlantis, Diadochia. The University was founded in 421 by Emperor Cassander I. The University is the oldest in Diadochia and one of the oldest the world.

History

From its start, the University included departments for medicine, philosophy, law, arithmetic, geometry, music, rhetoric, history, languages. The University was founded as a secular school for higer learning.

It was for centuries customary for students to begin their studies in grammer, rhetoric, and dialects; then aritmetic, geometry, music, and astrology; ending with philosophy and advanced studies.

By the 11th century the university begin training men for the civil service and judiciary, no lawyer in that time was allowed to practice without first graduating from the University. Cassander XI of Diadochia, last husband and co-emperor of Empress Zoe I of Diadochia, added a chair for philosophy, and greek culture as well, to the university.
