The Jingoistic States of The Fatheland is a large, cultured nation, renowned for its frequent executions, sprawling nuclear power plants, and complete lack of prisons. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 96 million Grammar Nazis are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The minute government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Industry, Defense, and Education. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 5.0%.

The all-consuming grammar Nazi economy, worth 7.25 trillion Grammars a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Gambling industry, with significant contributions from Automobile Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Book Publishing. Average income is 75,546 Grammars, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 259,183 per year while the poor average 16,161, a ratio of 16.0 to 1.

Eagle racing stadiums are open 24/7, prudishness is on the way out, the government is promoting multicultural values with the new 'Just Be Nice, OK?' initiative, and droves of former desperados are applying to join the border police. Crime is moderate, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. The Fatheland's national animal is the Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution.
