World Bowl VII was the seventh installment of the World Bowl championship for football. It was be held in Dancougar, a three-time World Bowl champion (I, IV, VI). A record thirty-six entries were been made, including twelve first-time participants; noticeably absent was World Bowl II champion Rennidan. Due to the large number of first-time entrants, a Baptism of Iron tournament was held in Arroza prior to the World Bowl tournament to give these entrants an opportunity to gain international experience.

After fifteen days of competition, the Fujisawan Territories won their first World Bowl championship in a 13-10 victory over runner-up Taeshan. Newmanistan finished in third place, winning over Secristan by a score of 20-10.

Bidding Process

Two host bids were submitted, from Bluth Corporation and eventual host Dancougar. Bluth Corporation's bid turned out to be very controversial, because of a Group Stage scheduling formula that gave what some viewed as unreasonably difficult schedules for lower-ranked teams and unreasonably easy schedules for higher-ranked teams. Vephrall had expressed an intent to submit a host bid early in the process, but later backed out.

Taeshan was appointed to oversee the host voting process, with eighteen participating nations eligible to vote. Of the eighteen, seven actually submitted a vote, and all submitted votes were for Dancougar's bid.

Baptism of Iron

With twelve new entries that would otherwise have had no international experience, it was decided that a Baptism of Iron tournament would be held to acquaint the teams to the intensity of international play, and give them the opportunity to earn rating points that would help with their seeding in the World Bowl group draw. After six game days, Delaclava was named Champion of Baptism of Iron VII.

Group Stage

Participants in World Bowl VII were divided into six groups of six teams each; each team played a home-and-home series against every other team in its group. Upon the conclusion of those ten games, the top two teams in each group (by won-loss record), as well as the four highest teams by won-loss record that were not among the top two in their respective groups, advanced to the playoffs.
