Political freedoms are extended only to close friends and relatives of the leaders of the region's governments. Economies in the region tend to be stronger than average. The median tax rate of the region is 32%, but is frequently higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the public sector, with on average only 19% of the economy comprising the private sector. Commerce within the region is an irrelevant annoyance to governments.
