Axis of Absurdity

Axis Of Absurdity is a small region, sparsely populated by only 5 nations and only 2 World Assembly Members.

In Axis Of Absurdity, denizens enjoy their civil rights, although not too much, or too freely. Denizens generally have very few political freedoms, but some limited freedom is afforded to citizens of nations in the region. The economy of the region is remarkably unremarkable, with members being neither powerhouses nor basket cases. Inhabitants of the region ultimately pay most of their earnings to the government, as the median tax rate is 99%, or more! The economies of nations in the region tend to be weighted more towards the public sector, with on average only 49% of the economy comprising the private sector. Commerce within the region is an irrelevant annoyance to governments.

Axis Of Absurdity values education extremely highly, and denizens compete for the largest number of university degrees and sprawling book collections. There is a very high level of crime within the region and law enforcement resources are stretched thin. Denizens have very well-funded, well equipped defense forces. Public transport is a popular mode of transport in the region, receiving on average of 3% of total government budgets.

Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Axis Of Absurdity. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Governments generally endow their healthcare departments with a large amount of funding, with an average of 7% of government budgets across the region being devoted to healthcare. Welfare in the region is minimal, with only a small amount of expenditure being devoted to spending on social security. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.

In Axis Of Absurdity, denizens benefit from a good balance of social equality and motivation for advancement, although aspiration is the priority. Natural environments are quite bad, although some measures have been undertaken to ensure that the environment is protected.
