The Morstaybishlian Empire was a large Empire that spanned the majority of the Auroran continent, which consisted of Staynes (Staynes and South Staynes), Caltharus and Kormistazm, before it became known as Norograd during the last century, which itself consists of modern day Emberwood Coast and Quartz Fern Coast, before its demise in 1970. The Empire was founded in 1515 after King Lambertus III of Staynes reclaimed the Caltharus throne, and later his grandson, King Redrugus IX, annexed Kormistazm(ancient Axdel) as a Principality of the Empire.
The population of the Empire has varied wildly over the almost half-century, as low as around 44,700,000 inhabitants in 1600 to as much as 254,000,000 in the year prior to its collapse. The cultural gap between the patriotically Marxist Norogradian population and the orthodox monarchy reached new highs in the 1950's when an Empire parade in Fort Sekan was assaulted by armed nationalists. The empire retaliated by tightening control over the region, enforcing strict control policies and a curfew to prevent any further uprising. This was ultimately ineffective and led to further tensions and hatred between the two ethnic groups. Further small attacks on Morstaybishlian servicemen and officials from the Norogradian nationalists were constant after, up until after the nation gained independence from the empire after its demise.
