Subreality

Subreality is a small region, sparsely populated by only 5 nations and only 4 World Assembly Members.

Throughout Subreality civil rights are held dearly by all. Denizens generally have very few political freedoms, but some limited freedom is afforded to citizens of nations in the region. Families in the region are so obsessed with the economy that the discussion of laffer curves and supply-side reforms over dinner is a regular occurrence in member nations. Denizens suffer under an enormous tax burden throughout the region, with a median tax rate of 70%, and much higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be weighted more towards the private sector, with on average only 46% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 6% of public expenditure.

Subreality values education extremely highly, and denizens compete for the largest number of university degrees and sprawling book collections. There is a very high level of crime within the region and law enforcement resources are stretched thin. Denizens have small defense forces. Public transport is a popular mode of transport in the region, receiving on average of 6% of total government budgets.

Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Subreality. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Governments bestow their healthcare departments with a gargantuan amount of funding, with an average of 11% of government budgets across the region being heaped on to healthcare. No welfare is provided in the region. Those unlucky enough to fall into unemployment are forgotten and abandoned. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.

In Subreality, denizens benefit from a good balance of social equality and motivation for advancement, although aspiration is the priority. The region's landscapes are reasonably good, although the impact of the denizens has had a noticeable effect.
