Alpha Omega

Alpha Omega is a minuscule region, inhabited by a few solitary nations.

In Alpha Omega, denizens enjoy their civil rights, although not too much, or too freely. Denizens are flush with political freedom, although competing opinions often mean that political gridlock is the norm. Families in the region are so obsessed with the economy that the discussion of laffer curves and supply-side reforms over dinner is a regular occurrence in member nations. Inhabitants rarely are visited by the tax collector, and the region boasts a paltry median tax rate of 1%. The region is a beacon of capitalism, with the public sector not existing in any meaningful way in constituent economies. Commerce is a major priority of national governments within the region, most of whom are trading nations, as is evidenced by the fact that commerce budgets account for an average of 27% of public expenditure in the region.

Education is a priority for governments throughout Alpha Omega, with ample funding being provided and teachers enjoying a great deal of support. There is a very high level of crime within the region and law enforcement resources are stretched thin. Denizens have well-funded defense forces. Due to the lack of any Public transport, streets are packed with cars, bikes, and assorted noisy vehicles.

Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Alpha Omega. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Some government provision is made for healthcare, but at an average of only 4% the provision for healthcare in the region is paltry. Welfare in the region is minimal, with only a small amount of expenditure being devoted to spending on social security. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.

Social inequality is rife amongst the nations within Alpha Omega. The environments of the nations in the region are almost universally appalling.
