Allied Military States

Allied Military States is a minuscule region, inhabited by a few solitary nations and without any World Assembly representation.

In Allied Military States, denizens enjoy their civil rights, although not too much, or too freely. Denizens are flush with political freedom, although competing opinions often mean that political gridlock is the norm. Families in the region discuss laffer curves and supply-side reforms over supper, such is the level of obsession exhibited by member nations. Denizens suffer under an enormous tax burden throughout the region, with a median tax rate of 55%, and much higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tends to be weighted more towards the private sector, with on average only 45% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is a major priority of national governments within the region, most of whom are trading nations, as is evidenced by the fact that commerce budgets account for an average of 30% of public expenditure in the region.

Denizens of the Allied Military States are poorly educated, with rampant illiteracy. Criminality is rife within the region, with law enforcement struggling to cope. Governments allocate a meagre 1%, on average, of their budgets to law and order. Denizens have small defense forces. Public transport is a popular mode of transport in the region, receiving on average of 4% of total government budgets.

Throughout Allied Military States, governments find themselves confused, with administration departments being so bloated that staff do not know what other staff are doing, with an average of over 12% of government budgets being devoted to Administration. Hospital patients are given credit checks upon passing through emergency rooms, as no government provision is made for healthcare in the region. No welfare is provided in the region. Those unlucky enough to fall into unemployment are forgotten and abandoned. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.

In Allied Military States, Social inequality is total, with wealth being held by a tiny fraction of the region's populace. The region's landscapes are reasonably good, although the impact of the denizens has had a noticeable effect.
