Alternate Reality

Alternate Reality is a minuscule region, inhabited by a few solitary nations and without any World Assembly representation.

In Alternate Reality, denizens enjoy their civil rights, although not too much, or too freely. Denizens generally have very few political freedoms, but some limited freedom is afforded to citizens of nations in the region. Families in the region discuss laffer curves and supply-side reforms over supper, such is the level of obsession exhibited by member nations. The median tax rate of the region is 36%, but is frequently higher for the wealthy. The economy of nations in the region tends to be heavily weighted towards the public sector, with on average only 35% of the economy comprising the private sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 6% of public expenditure.

Alternate Reality does not prioritize education in any meaningful way. Criminality is rife within the region, with law enforcement struggling to cope. Governments allocate a meagre 3%, on average, of their budgets to law and order. Denizens have very well-funded, well equipped defense forces. Public transport is a popular mode of transport in the region, receiving on average of 5% of total government budgets.

Governments in Alternate Reality communicate very well amongst themselves, with administration departments working smoothly, with 6% on average of government budgets being devoted to Administration. Governments bestow their healthcare departments with a gargantuan amount of funding, with an average of 10% of government budgets across the region being heaped on to healthcare. Welfare is a large part of government expenditure, with denizens amply provided for. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.

Social inequality is rife amongst the nations within Alternate Reality. The landscapes of the region are no longer recognizable as such, the atmosphere being unbreathable and the only jungles being made of concrete.
