The National Anthem of Yulis is the popular traditional song "In the Shadow of the Mountain". It was written in the late 1920s by Orlando Cuoinsain (who appears on the 20 éndo note) and was popularised during the War of the Dark Ages and the following times as Yulis stood alone on The Lonely Plains.

Lyrics

Although there are many versions of the Lyrics, these are the most commonly used and attributed lyrics. The National Anthem is now sung in the 1913 Dúclan in which it was written, the Yulisian Dúclan of the day and the standard 'pure' english.

English Verse:
High in the shadow of the mountains,
We stand united, proud and strong,
Lone, but not lost, under our flag,
High in the shadow of the mountains.

Melody and Accompaniment

"In the Shadow of the Mounatain" has no official melody or form of accompaniment. In most cases the accompanist plays their own version, usually having had a prior practice with the singer(s) to get it right. In establishments where the National Anthem is regularly sung (schools, military, concerts) there is usually a version that is the anthem.
