The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of Alts of Herobrinia eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Political freedoms are extended only to close friends and relatives of the leaders of the region's governments. Families in the region are so obsessed with the economy that the discussion of laffer curves and supply-side reforms over supper is a regular occurrence in member nations. The median tax rate of the region is 35%, but is frequently higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tends to be weighted more towards the private sector, with on average only 44% of the economy comprising the public sector. Stoking commercial activity is a major priority for governments, accounting for an average of 8% of public expenditure.
In Alts of Herobrinia, denizens are afforded a reasonable education, although funding is somewhat wanting. The region's law enforcement is arguably too well-equipped and overzealous, arresting citizens who dare to commit the most minor of infractions. Defense is an overarching priority for governments within the region. One might suggest they are compensating for something. Public transport is considered dirty and trampish in the region.
