The Democratic Alliance

The Democratic Alliance is a minuscule region, inhabited by a sole nation.

The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of The Democratic Alliance eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Denizens generally have very few political freedoms, but some limited freedom is afforded to citizens of nations in the region. Economies in the region tend to be stronger than average. The median tax rate of the region is 30%, but is frequently higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the public sector, with on average only 37% of the economy comprising the private sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 3% of public expenditure.

Education is a priority for governments throughout The Democratic Alliance, with ample funding being provided and teachers enjoying a great deal of support. The region's law enforcement officials try hard to combat a relatively high level of crime, but are hampered by a lack of funding. Denizens have very well-funded, well equipped defense forces. Due to the lack of any Public transport, streets are packed with cars, bikes, and assorted noisy vehicles.

Throughout The Democratic Alliance, governments find themselves confused, with administration departments being so bloated that staff do not know what other staff are doing, with an average of over 9% of government budgets being devoted to Administration. Governments bestow their healthcare departments with a gargantuan amount of funding, with an average of 15% of government budgets across the region being heaped on to healthcare. Governments in the region have a pathological fixation on welfare, with welfare budgets soaking up huge amounts of government expenditure. Spirituality is an obsession of governments in the region, with a relatively very high average of 6% of government budgets being devoted to Spirituality.

Social inequality is a major problem within The Democratic Alliance, although some effort has been made to correct the problem. The landscapes of the region are no longer recognizable as such, the atmosphere being unbreathable and the only jungles being made of concrete.
