The Paripana Open Cup is a knockout cup competition in Paripanan football, organized by the Paripana Sporting Council. It was first played in the 2196–97 season, when it replaced the Élite League Cup as the PSC’s premier cup competition. It involves every Paripanan football club licensed by the PSC—893 as of the 2254–55 season—and is billed as the world’s largest football tournament. The champion qualifies to participate in the following season’s Cup Winners’ Cup.
In the format in use since the 2254–55 edition, the Open Cup consists of thirteen rounds. The first five rounds—the Preliminary Round and the four Qualifying Rounds—are divided on a regional basis. The 112 winners from the Fourth Qualifying Round are joined in the First Round by the 48 teams of the Paripana Third. Clubs from Élite League Two enter in the Second Round, and clubs from Élite League One in the Third Round. An open draw for each round, without any seeding, decides the fixtures, and which teams will play at home. If any match ends in a draw, it is replayed at the home venue of the opposite team; extra time and kicks from the penalty mark are never used. The final, and any replays of the final, have always been held at Holmes Stadium in Columbia.
