Avalonia is a minuscule region, inhabited by a few solitary nations.
The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of Avalonia eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Nations in the region are considered developing democracies, with some political freedoms afforded to denizens. Economies in the region tend to be stronger than average. Denizens tend to pay their taxes quickly and quietly, with a median tax rate of 24%. The economies of nations in the region tend to be dominated by the private sector, with on average only 5% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 5% of public expenditure.
Avalonia does not prioritize education in any meaningful way. Crime is low: the region enjoys well-equipped and well-funded police forces, coupled with efficient but fair judicial systems. Defense is an overarching priority for governments within the region. One might suggest they are compensating for something. Public transport is a popular mode of transport in the region, receiving on average of 4% of total government budgets.
Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Avalonia. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Some government provision is made for healthcare, but at an average of only 4% the provision for healthcare in the region is paltry. No welfare is provided in the region. Those unlucky enough to fall into unemployment are forgotten and abandoned. Governments within the region are fixated with religious worship, with nations having an inordinately high average of 17% of total government funds devoted to it.
