The economy of the region is very strong, with a large number of very powerful trading powers. The median tax rate of the region is 41%, but is frequently higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the private sector, with on average 25% of the economy comprising the public sector. Stoking commercial activity is a major priority for governments, accounting for an average of 9% of public expenditure.
