The Democratic State of Bakairistan, most commonly known as Bakairistan, is a de facto autonomous region originating in and consisting of three self-governing cantons namely Afrina Canton, Jakarta Canton and Kolzani Canton, as well as adjacent areas like the Szah region. The region gained its de facto autonomy in 1999 as part of the ongoing Bakari conflict and the wider Urizikistan Civil War, establishing and gradually expanding a secular polity based on the democratic confederalist principles of democratic socialism, gender equality, and ecological sustainability.
