The Bananan National Assembly is the lower house of the legislature in Holy Banana. 600 members are elected to five-year terms through colsed-list first-past-the-post system. The most recent election was held on 10 August 2017. The Bananan National-Revolutionary Party currently controls the majority of seats. The Speaker of the Bananan National Assembly is currently Frederic Peelson and the Deputy Speaker of the Bananan National Assembly is Adam Bananson.

Composition

The Bananan National Assembly consists of 600 members. The structure of the Assembly itself is in an arch, with parties positioned from left to right from the Speaker's perspective depending on their ideology. The leader and vice-leader of the party or coalition government in power are the Speaker of the Bananan National Assembly and Deputy Speaker of the Bananan National Assembly respectively. To be eligible to run for office, a person must be a citizen of Holy Banana and 21 years old or older.

Procedure

The Assembly votes on laws proposed by the members or the Senate, any member can propose a bill. Each member gets a single vote. Bills need a simple majority to be passed for further debate in the Banana Senate, the Assembly cannot vote on constitutional laws.
