Campionato Esportiva

The Campionato Esportiva is the primary international footballing competition Esportiva and occurs in between the World Cup and the Baptism of Fire, with some overlap into the Baptism of Fire tournament. So far, 8 tournaments have been played, giving 5 different winners in that time. The most recent winners of the tournament are New Sideburn, who defeated Northern Sunrise Islands in the final of the Eighth Campionato Esportiva, held in Apox.

Campionato Esportiva 1

The first Campionato Esportiva was hosted in Camwood, and it took place between February 19th 2012 - March 3rd 2012. It was done in the format of 4 groups of 5 teams, with the top two from each group progressing to the Quarter-finals. There was a surprise upset when Nakatumo Isle won the tournament, having had their chances rated as 18/1 by pre-tournament bookies in Cyborg Holland. The runners-up were Ares-Y-Penthesilea, and Ajundar beat Blackbone Bay in the Third Place Play-off.

Campionato Esportiva 2

The second edition was eventually hosted by Cyborg Holland and Licentiapacisterra after a series of delays due to the World Cup and Camwood's exit from Esportiva meant that he was unable to host the competition. With Nakatumo Isle not taking part in the competition, it meant the title was up for grabs, and would definitely be won by someone new. In the end THRILLEDGE won the title, beating 19th Century Beards in the Final. The format was having 3 Groups of 6 teams, with the top 2 from each group qualifying with the next 2 highest joing them in the Quarter-Finals.

Campionato Esportiva 3

The third edition was given to Cyborg Holland and Sakhovelo, where they narrowly beat out Swyftlandre at 5 votes to 4. With THRILLEDGE taking part in the contest, it marked the first time the champion was up to defend their title. The format was to have seven groups of four, with the top two qualifying directly to the Knockout Stages, the other two spaces were offered to the highest scoring 3rd Place teams, which were Apox and Byfugland. Previous champions THRILLEDGE were eliminated in the Round of 16 and was eventually won by Licentiapacisterra.

Campionato Esportiva 4

The fourth edition went to Apox and Swyftlandre, two prominent G9 Members. Once again, defending champions Licentiapacisterra entered to defend their title and THRILLEDGE was back for another round to take back the crown. This time round, a record thirty two nations participated and made for a format of eight groups of four with the top two advancing to the Round of Sixteen. The contest ended with the ever prominent Asadur facing up against Co-Host Apox and was won by Apox.

Campionato Esportiva 5

The Fifth edition of the Campionato Esportiva went to Slembanana, a fruit shaped nation to the North of Slembana. The three previous champions, THRILLEDGE, Licentiapacisterra and Apox were all hopeful to become the first nation to take home the title twice. Eventually, in a rough match-up, Apox defeated THRILLEDGE and Cyborg Holland to secure the cup and become the first nation to not only to win the Cup twice but also take it home in two consecutive terms.

Campionato Esportiva 6

32 nations travelled to the newly recovered, 'democratic' nation of Islo Aiz ens Islo Dorne hosting the Campionato, and defending champions Apox not taking part for the chance to win a 3rd consecutive title, it was all up for grabs. The finalists and 3PPO contenders were a mixture of the old and the new, with past winners The Licentian Islands beating a tough Slembana side who had only made the quarters before to take third. The final was contested between debuting nation, New Sideburn who had won the BoF 51 take-on the old dogs of the competition, Cyborg Holland, who made their second consecutive final. After a thrilling encounter, New Sideburn won after an extra time 2-1 goal was enough to overcome one of the hardest opponents in all of Esportiva.

Campionato Esportiva 7

The 7th edition of the Campionato Esportiva went to The Glorious Commune over The Licentian Isles. The semi-finalists were mainly the old dogs of the region in Apox, Cyborg Holland and The Licentian Isles taking part, with Sangti as the only newcomer, after most of the impressive runs from new nations were ended in the quarter-finals including the defending champions, New Sideburn. Sangti completed an unlucky win over top seeds Cyborg Holland while The Licentian Isles needed extra time to beat Apox. In the 3PPO, Cyborg Holland won, 4-2 on penalties in a tense stalemate of a game, before The Licentian Isles once again went to extra time to win their second Campionato, drawing level with Apox on the all time list.
