History

Cyprentana began as a small colony of businesses that focused on cutting edge technology beyond the bounds of national borders. Citizens from all over the world flocked to the islands to work with the teams and companies found there. Over a few years, conglomerates formed and some of the executives banded together to incorporate the islands as a nation. It took a while, but eventually the country grew to be recognized by others. Immigration flourished and citizens from all over flocked to the new nation.

The founding members decided that their new state would follow a corporate structure similar to that of their own companies and its leaders would come from the best executive of the national corporations.

Geography

Cyprentana occupies a string of islands stretching out between two continents, connected by ferries, bridges, rail lines, and tunnels. The climate is temperate and tropical rainforest, with many lush beaches stretching across the islands’ shores. This lush environment makes Cyprentana a top destination for eco-tourism. The country’s geographical location makes a gateway for the two oceans it sits between, and an important port for shipping and military routes.

Because Cyprentana considers itself to be one massive city-state, it has divided itself into many smaller Administrative Districts, each led by an appointed Executive Officer (ExO or EO) who oversees the legislation and enforcement of bylaws in that area, under the supervision of the CEO. Some districts serve specific purposes, such as the Foreign Quarter or the Entertainment District, and have specialized bylaws that cater to the district’s purpose.

Government

The government in Cyprentana is organized in a corporate structure. There is a Chairman, Vice Chairman and a CEO. The Board of Directors is the only house in the government, and both drafts and passes bills. The hierarchy of the government is best explained by image.

Director: A Director is a member of the national legislature at the highest level. There are one-thousand directors in all, including the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and the Chief Executives. In order to be a Director, one must have previously been a Chief Executive in one of the largest five-thousand publicly traded companies by market capitalization in Cyprentana. When assuming their role, all the Director's assets are moved into a blind trust that is managed by the Cypren Director Pension Fund, a federal corporation. Each Director serves for five years on the Board, with 20% of seats up for election each year, and up to a maximum of two five-year terms. The exception to this is that the elected Chairman has no term limit but can be removed by a majority vote of five-hundred and one votes. These votes of non-confidence take place once after the Chairman's first year in office, and every six months thereafter. The term limit rules apply to the Vice-Chairman and all Chief Executives.

Head of State

Chairman/Vice Chairman: The Chairman is elected from the Board of Directors by the citizens, and he/she then selects her own Vice Chairman and Executive Board. The Chairman acts as a figurehead and is in charge of all aspects of government with the help of the Vice Chairman. It is their primary job to keep the country at the front of technological advances and maintain the highest standards of academic, athletic and medical achievement in the region. On behalf of the Chairman, the Vice Chairman oversees the passing of legislation through the Board of Directors.
