David Jared Tomlinson is a Kiribatian politician and current Secretary of State for National Intelligence. He has also served previously as the Minister of State for Commodities within the Department of Commerce and is the current member of Parliament for Nonsuch Cathedral, which he has represented since 2000.
As Secretary of State for National Intelligence, Tomlinson is the chief intelligence officer of Kiribati-Tarawa and receives all intelligence briefs, deciding which, if any, to bring to Cabinet. He heads the Ministry of Intelligence (MI), providing parliamentary oversight over the intelligence services, and signs of on all actions. Given the secretive and sensitive nature of the Ministry, he is the only Minister of the Crown that does not answer questions in the Parliament, but, in turn, is the only Cabinet office requiring confirmation by Parliament.
