Diadochian Bride-show

Diadochian Bride-show (Greek: Διάδοχοι Νύφης-επίδειξη, Diádochoi Nýfi̱s-epídeixi̱) or Parade of brides (Greek: Παρέλαση νύφες, Parélasi̱ nýfes) was an Diadochian custom of rounding up all the elgible maidens of the empire and selecting the most beautiful as Empress. The tradition was brought to the Imperial Court of Diadochia by Empress Irene of Azaria.


Selection

Girls involved in the bride show underwent vigorous tests and all those not selected became the wives of nobles and were sent home with rich gifts. Rquirements for selection included noble birth, healthy and beautiful, and from families of many children.
