Etymology
The etymology of the word Friskland, and especially the relationship between Frisks and Friskland and the unifying of Friskland as a single kingdom, is a subject which attracts debate.
Frisk in Danish means fresh, meaning a fresh, new land discovered by the Danes.
History
Early history
Up until the 15th Century, Friskland was undiscovered until a group of Danish sailors came across it. The notified the rest of the country and a lot of Danish people colonized the new land.

It remained neutral in both World Wars, not being involved in either.
