German Royal Family

The German Royal Family is the family of the sovereign in Germany. They are responsible for carrying out royal duties and representing Germany abroad. The head of the Royal Family is the Sovereign.

Immediate Family of the Sovereign

This is comprised of the consort of the sovereign and the sovereign's issue. Currently:

  • His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Germany

First Family of the Sovereign

This is comprised of the sovereign's parents (if living) and siblings and their issue. Currently:

• Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte The Princess Mother
  • Her Royal Highness Princess Elisabeth of Germany

Extended Royal Family

This is comprised of the siblings of the sovereign's parent who was sovereign and their issue. Currently:

• His Royal Highness Prince Karl, Duke of Lorraine
  Her Royal Highness Princess Lydia, Duchess of Lorraine
  • His Royal Highness Prince Karl, Count of Metz
  • Her Royal Highness Princess Irina Xenia of Germany
