Joachim, Prince Consort (Joachim Andreas Karl Wilhelm; born August 12, 1985) is a German-born Autelian prince, and consort of Elisabeth, Queen of Autelia. The second son of the King and Queen of Württemberg, he married Elisabeth in 2012. He became Prince Consort on February 14, 2015.

Born and raised in Württemberg, Joachim lived a relatively quiet life with his family at Schloss Bebenhausen. He decided to attend the University of Perugia in Italy to study for a degree in Law, where he met his future wife, the then-Princess Elisabeth of Autelia. After a courtship of six years, they officially announced their engagement in 2011, and were married the following year in Cavaillon.

Joachim is father to the couple’s four children: Crown Prince Aurélien, Princess Madeleine, Princess Gabrielle and Prince Louis. The family mainly reside at the Palais Royal in Cavaillon, however they also spend time in Port-Charles and Württemberg.

The prince is known for his keen interest in tennis and cycling, having participated in various competitions in both sports during his youth, and his status as Patron of both the National Federation of Cyclists and the Royal Tennis Association in Autelia. He supports many charities in both Autelia and his native Germany, and has his own charity himself, the Consort Prize for Initiative, which works with young entrepreneurs.

Biography

Prince Joachim Andreas Karl Wilhelm of Württemberg was born at 9:51am on August 12, 1985 in Stuttgart, Württemberg. His mother is Queen Fabiana, the former-Doña Fabiana de Santanilla, and his father is King Wilhelm V of Württemberg, the then-Prince Johan Albrecht of Württemberg. He has two older brothers: Crown Prince Wilhelm (b. 1982) and Prince Hans (b. 1984), and two younger sisters: Princess Louisa (b. 1987) and Princess Charlotte (b. 1990).

He began his studies at the University of Perugia in 2003, choosing a course in Law, specialising in international law studies. He had been studying there for two years when he met a younger first-year student at a university function, Princess Elisabeth of Autelia. Sharing mutual friends, they met each other again a couple of times before deciding to date each other. They officially began a relationship in 2006, announcing it via a joint statement.

Joachim graduated in 2007 and remained in Perugia for a further two years to remain close to his new girlfriend and to complete some work experience at a solicitor’s office in the city. When Elisabeth graduated in 2008, the couple decided to move to Rome, living in a shared apartment in the city, and returning to their respective home countries on a regular basis.

In 2010, after six years of courtship, Joachim proposed to Elisabeth in Rome, and they became engaged on December 24, 2010. They announced their engagement to the press on January 9, 2011 and preparations for the wedding officially began. Representatives from both Autelia and Württemberg worked together on the ceremony, and it was decided it would be held in the Cathédrale National in Cavaillon, Autelia. The date was set for January 21, 2012. Upon their marriage, they were created Duke and Duchess of Borbeuges.

A year later, the couple’s first child Aurélien was born. They continued taking part in engagements for both Autelia and Württemberg, occasionally including Aurélien in their duties.

After having been suffering privately with lung cancer for a couple of years, Elisabeth’s father King Henri passed away on February 14, 2015. Elisabeth, Joachim and Aurélien were all in Württemburg visiting family at the time, so they had to make a quick retreat to Autelia for Elisabeth’s confirmation as monarch. Originally, Joachim was not to take a new title upon his wife’s accession to the throne; however, Elisabeth issued a decree on March 2, 2015 that Joachim would be made a Prince of Autelia and be given the title of Prince Consort. She cited the precedent of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, saying that she thought the titling was fitting and appropriate.

Shortly after, the couple announced Elisabeth’s second pregnancy, and in December of 2015, she gave birth to twins, Princess Madeleine and Princess Elisabeth. As the couple’s life became more centred on state affairs, the family permanently moved to the Palais Royal in Cavaillon and ceased undertaking duties for the Kingdom of Württemburg.

On June 6, 2016, Joachim and Elisabeth were officially invested as Prince Consort and Queen of Autelia in a public ceremony attended by various international dignitaries.

The couple’s fourth child, Louis, was born in November of 2017.
