Karl von Ettingen und Steinbach

Prince Karl von Ettingen und Steinbach (born 1945) is a Braslander diplomat. He is the son of Prince Oskar von Ettingen und Steinbach.

In 1968 he married Inge von Ertmund. The marriage was annulled in 1971. He remarried in 1978 to Carolina de Carvalho-Moreira Guimaraes, a Portuguese-Brazilian. They had four children: Leopoldine (born 1980), Peter (born 1982), Miguel (born 1984) and Carolina (born 1988).

He joined the Foreign Service in 1967, after finishing his studies. He was destined to the Westbund, Balthorvia, South Korea, Indonesia and India. He served as ambassador to India between 1991 to 1998. President Max Bernstein replaced him on this position, and the prince decided to settle in Portugal, given the complicated political situation in Brasland. He and his family lived there until 2013.
