The Komnenos Renaissance or Middle Diadochian Renaissance was a cultural movement (1212-1357) in Diadochia during the rule of the Komnenos dynasty. During this time Diadochia experienced a cultural, artistic, and intellectual revival shown by the many achievements of the era.

Artistic revival

In Diadochia this period was known for an increased interest in mosaic art. In Diadochia mosaic art became more vivid, realistic, and began to take on a three-dimensional form. The artists of the Middle Diadochian Renaissance depicted mostly natural landscapes, animals, and hunting scenes in their art work. Also during this time regional architectural styles flourished throughout the empire.
