Luka Dreykov was the Minister of Space Exploration and Research in the government of Stratarin. Tragically, he committed suicide at the age of 38.

Early Life and Education

Luka was born in the Strataric countryside to a farmer and his wife. Being in a time before Stratarin was authoritarian, he was home-schooled by his mother, and was especially good at science concerning Urth's outer space. His parents would often find him on the roof late at night, gazing up in wonder at the stars. After receiving a kindergarten-through-high school education under his mother's tutelage, Luka successfully applied for the Gordost i Predubezhdeniye Academy, one of Stratarin's most prestigious colleges. He began pursuing a career as a physicist, with a heavy slant towards space. That is where he met Klara Dreykov, a young woman with similar career aspirations, whom he started dating shortly after.

Career

By the age of 26, Luka had married Klara and progressed admirably in his chosen career, even successfully publishing the book "Extraterrestrial Studies." Though not very originally named, it quickly earned widespread popularity and helped earn him credibility in the scientific world. He started his second book, 'To the Stars and Beyond,' shortly before his father died. Though slightly delayed, it was finished and proved even more successful than the first. By the time Luka was 29, the leader of Stratarin at that time had invited him to the Velikolepnyy Building, Stratarin's government building.

Ministry

After General Secretary Drugov became the leader of Stratarin and reorganized the government one year after Luka's visit, he was impressed upon hearing of the man's wit and knowledge. Luka was then appointed as the Minister of Space Exploration and Research, under the Primary Ministry of Sciences, and Klara chose to be his assistant. Having a considerable, but not glutenous, amount of funding, Luka managed to build the first modern Strataric manned spacecraft, the shuttle Chudo.

Downward Spiral

When Luka was 38 years old, the Free Land of Emberwood Coast announced that Myriad Station would become international, with other nations able to send their own crew and supplies upward. Leaping at the chance, Luka secured the necessary permissions from the General Secretary, and sent the Chudo and a supply module skyward. This historic event was the beginning of the end for Luka. After the FPA space station known as the Eternal Wrath, shot down Myriad, the General Secretary cut Luka's funding due to the lack of fruit his ministry had wrought. While her husband sank into alcoholism, Klara remained faithfully married, but decided that she should temporarily live apart from him. This only worsened his condition.

Death

On December 26th, 2016, Minister of Law Enforcement Mikhail Starikov decided that Luka might be an obstruction to his plans in the future, and manipulated him into committing suicide by playing on his depression. Although he died younger than most, Luka Dreykov always tried to do what was best for his country, and is considered a true Strataric patriot.
