Madeleine II (Madeleine Guenièvre Eugénie de Maumaront; born 21 June 1110 AS) is Empress regnant of the Tresthyrean Empire. As the eldest child of Emperor Henri IX and Jacqueline Renaudin, Madeleine was considered heiress presumptive from her birth until the outbreak of revolution in 1141. Following the abolition of the monarchy nearly two years later, she and her family were forced into exile.
With her father isolating himself from the eyes of the public, Madeleine became the new face for the restoration of the monarchy. As the titular Dauphine of Oléron and heiress presumptive, supporters back home rallied behind her and became the primary opponents to the new Tresthyrean Federation. After six years of public exile, members of the imperial family were finally permitted to return to their homeland, largely thanks to the efforts of the Dauphine's supporters.
In 1155, nearly fourteen years after the revolution, the public called for a referendum amid rising tensions in the government between the monarchists and the federalists. Consequently, on 27 March 1155, members of parliament named Madeleine, rather than her father, as the new Empress of the Tresthèren. Following seven months of negotiations at the resulting Constitutional Convention, it was announced that Empress Madeleine II would reign as a constitutional monarch and share her political authority with a three-member Consulate under a federal system of governance.
Since her family's restoration to the throne, Madeleine has called for a number of political reforms, namely in the areas of education, healthcare and social equality. She has become extremely popular amongst members of the public, raising the monarchy's approval rating to the highest it's been in over a century.

Personal life
Madeleine II was first married to the Vaniveran nobleman Guillaume Ouellet on 27 December 1132. Madeleine and Guillaume met during the then-Dauphine of Oléron's summer visit to the city of Saverne in 1130 and became engaged a year and a half later during a retreat to Montaron. Together, the couple has three children:
- His Imperial Highness Prince Endymion Michel Aubin Guillaume de Maumaront (born 5 October 1134 AS)
- Her Imperial Highness Princess Ariane Jacqueline Guenièvre de Maumaront (born 20 March 1138)
- His Imperial Highness Prince Alexandre Pierre Henri de Maumaront (born 29 May 1141)
After a tumultuous twelve years of marriage, the couple quietly divorced in 1144 amid the fighting during the revolution. It was during this time that the Dauphine met and befriended Arunian lawyer Ouen van der Breuk in 1143. Despite rumors of a relationship and even a secret engagement, these were put to rest when Madeleine became engaged to Julien Blanchard, another Tresthyrean nobleman, in 1147. Married for five years, the couple promptly divorced in 1153. In 1154, the Dauphine became reacquainted with her old friend and lawyer-turned-journalist Ouen van der Breuk. On 5 August 1157, a year after becoming empress, Madeleine married Ouen in a private ceremony in Cervon.
The official residence of the Empress and the Prince Consort is Château de Arleux in Athéron, though the couple prefers the seclusion of the Château de Théméricourt on the outskirts of the capital city.
