The Dictatorship of Aethras is a very large, efficient nation, renowned for its national health service, zero percent divorce rate, and complete lack of prisons. It is led by Glorious Supreme Leader Jake Grogan with an oppressive and firm grip. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless population of 145 million Aethrans are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The large, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Industry. The average income tax rate is 64.8%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The powerhouse Aethran economy, worth 12.7 trillion Currency Points a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology, Uranium Mining, and Beef-Based Agriculture. Average income is 87,643 Currency Points, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.6 times as much as the poorest.

Homeless people can be found sleeping on streets in front of unoccupied second homes, the government spends twice as much reclaiming lost settlements from the sea as it could've on coastal defences, the government is cracking down on subversive groups, and the institution of marriage is held sacred and strictly enforced. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Aethras's national animal is the golden eagle, which is also the nation's favorite main course.
