The Taking-it-easy Empire of Amazing Erikland is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Emperor Erik with a fair hand, and notable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.81 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Equality, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Vault City. The average income tax rate is 64%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.
'The Anti-Government Hour' is a popular programme on many of Amazing Erikland's radio stations, UFO sightings are listed daily in the morning news, military funding has been stripped back, and citizens simply have to point a weapon at a government official to get what they want. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a serious problem. Amazing Erikland's national animal is the Hedgehog, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Dudeism, and its currency is the Big One.
