Whites Holler is a nation located in Appalachia and part of Sjurdland with a 2040 estimated population of 3,100,000, up from 1,500,000 in 2037. The first and current President of the Armed Republic of Whites Holler and Greater Appalachia is Winston T. Carleton. Adhering to strict Christian Identity, the nation is among the worlds most religious nations. Industry, including coal mining and steel production, carries the economy which is considered to be healthy and growing fast. Access to the nation, even from residents of Sjurdland allies is extremely difficult. Particular merit and skill-based immigration occur after a DNA test.

Slavery, as chartered in the Appalachian Constitution permits slavery for agriculture but not for industrial nor commercial work. There are an estimated 64,000 slaves in the nation. A poll conducted with 20,000 slaves showed 88% to be Black or Black-mixed, 6% to be Latin or Hispanic, 3% to be White, and 2% to be of Indian or Asian descent.

Charleston is the historical capital of West Virginia, one of two Capital Cities chartered by Sjurd, and the largest city in the nation. and remains an important city in Whites Holler today. Charleston is estimated to have a population of 97,000 as of 2040. Spencer is the current capital of Whites Holler but a new city will be nominated by 2041.

In 2040 Whites Holler took control of large tracts of land to the west of the Ohio River as part of the Ohio River Conflict. A large area south of Columbus (Ohio) became Whites Holler. This included the strategic and important cities of Chillicothe, Circleville, Athens, Steubenville, Gallipolis all of Ohio as well as Ashland and Pikeville of Kentucky.

Whites Holler is the only nation in Sjurdland that decriminalized possession of Marijuana. The measure passed by popular vote of the public (64% yay to 36% nay). The bill allowed for the decriminalization of less than 1oz of Marijuana and also banned opioids as a prescription medicine. Since 2037, the rate of opioid overdose as dropped by 89%.

The culture of Whites Holler is based largely in traditional Appalachian culture. Bluegrass, country and Gospel are the most common genres of music. However, there is a sizable "alternative" community of many hardcore, punk, emo, and metal bands and fans, collectively referred to as "Christiancore " or "Jesuscore". President Carleton himself is the vocalist of Christian-hardcore band Naproxen and the post-grunge band Nightwept.

Current population estimates are around 3,100,000 which is an increase of 1,500,000 in the last 7 years. With the industrial and manufacturing industry booming, it is predicted that the population will continue to make large gains over the coming years. With the rugged Appalachian Mountains comprising the entirety of the nation, most of the large communities are located in valleys along large rivers such as the Ohio River, Kanawha River, and the New River. Up the numerous hollows scattered in the nation, are rural communities that largely maintain traditional Appalachian culture. Many of these small communities have been growing as the economy has positively effected the area.

Charleston, Martinsburg, and Chillicothe are currently the fastest growing cities in the nation.

Huntington, once a good sized city has been converted mostly into a large port with mostly industry dominating the landscape. Those who remain are largely poor and have an addiction to drugs. Downtown is mostly abandoned with one area being revitalized as Robert E. Lee National University at Marshall has been gentrifying the area surrounding the college. Huntington's mayor, Michelle Meadows won the 2041 Mayoral Election as an open Socialist and has called on residents to rise up and fight again the government. Meadows is considered to only left wing elected official in the nation.
