The United Socialist States of Onji is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its frequent executions, complete lack of prisons, and devotion to social welfare. The compassionate, cynical population of 14 million Onjians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, moralistic, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Healthcare, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 66.3%.

The weak Onjian economy, worth 398 billion Oninjas a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, broadly diversified black market in Door-to-door Insurance Sales, Uranium Mining, Information Technology, and Cheese Exports. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 28,470 Oninjas, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 4.0 times as much as the poorest.

A well-funded social safety net protects the unfortunate, the Arara is a protected species, bicyclists are banned from major roads, and gambling is outlawed. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Onji's national animal is the Arara, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
