Sir Peter Cosgrin CRS KG VC DSM CB MC NA (born 28 July 1946) is the current President of the United Republic, he has previously served as Senator-Decreed for Remplon and as the Principal of the Senate of Sarenium. Prior to which, he served in the Saren Army.
A graduate of the Saren College of Military Education, Cosgrin entered active military service in 1965, aged 18. Never receiving a civilian degree of higher education, Cosgrin left his secondary school before starting Year 10 to enter SCOME. His father, Sir Blaine Cosgrin was a Lieutenant General in the Saren Army and organized for his son to be inducted for a speedy graduation. Peter Cosgrin was knighted in 1996 by President Olver Obbons, he was an active service-member at the time and the Commandant of the Northern Defensive Quadrant. Upon the accession of President Avery Addams, Sir Peter was confined to the quiet quarters of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. On 4 July 2006, President Alain Bronson named him as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.
On 12 September 2010, he tendered his retirement to the President and it was accepted three days later pending a suitable replacement. Cosgrin left from DefComm on 15 November 2010 wearing civilian uniform. He was presented an honour guard. Less than three years later, President Bronson asked him to fill in the vacating seat for the Decreed Senate Seat of Remplon. On 20 July 2013, he was sworn in as Senator, Sir Peter Cosgrin. Three weeks later he was made a Commander of the Order of Sarenium. The Centennial Badge, a Parliamentary Badge awarded to all sitting members of Parliament on 1 July 2015.
In June of 2020, he lost his only son and daughter-in-law in a devastating accident, after which he resigned to look after his grandchildren and to further tighten the bonds among the family. Despite this, he ran and successfully became elected as the 73rd President of the United Republic.

Early Life
Peter Cosgrin was born on 28 July 1946 at the Hospital of George and Anna. His family originally lived in central Caesarion but after his birth relocated in early 1948 to Sydney. Blaine Cosgrin was knighted on 14 May 1948 for his service during World War II. Blaine Cosgrin’s commission also declared him as a General with allegiance to the Saren Army. In 1950, Peter Cosgrin, aged four, shook hands with President William Scullins. President Sculling had adopted Sir Blaine as his equerry and in his first few weeks asked to meet the families of his staff, Peter’s infamously clumsy bout with an ornamental vase and its near breaking led to the title Clumsy Cosgrin being adopted by President Scullins. In 1962, after the conclusion of his final Middle Years exams, Peter Cosgrin received his exemplary results but under the guidance and instruction of his father, was directed to study at SCOME in his senior years. He was the youngest member of that class at SCOME. Two years later he had graduated from the SCOME Youth Educational Program. On 1 August 1964 he was inducted into Callan Barracks. just days after turning 18.
Military Service
Early Years
Originally assigned to a tank division patrolling an inner redoubt line along the Saren-Slatsen border, he was quickly reassigned to guerrilla warfare against Lybiyan warlords in western Lybiya. Within weeks of being assigned, he questioned his Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Brodie and was placed on probation for six months. After which his questioning of the positioning of artillery was proven false. Despite this, Cosgrin and Brodie developed a student-mentor relationship. In 1967, Lieutenant Brodie was reassigned to become Commandant of Northern Troops. In 1970, Brodie assigned Cosgrin to Defence Group A, the northernmost position of defence along the Saren-Slatsen border.
Political Career
Upon tendering his retirement notice, President Alain Bronson asked him if he had any intentions for a post-military career. He was appointed in 2013 to the seat of departing Lionel Yitchie. Originally to serve till 2022, his term was extended by the constitutional amendment of 2019 which increased his time in office. On 20 April 2019 he was named as the Principal of the Senate, against the wishes of President Robert Gaines. His term would end on 20 April 2025, but he chose to resign on 14 June 2020 as both Principal of the Senate and Senator for Remplon.
SSDA
Peter Cosgrin’s vote was crucial to the passage of the 2017 Saren-Slatsen Defence Agreement. He voted in favour on both accounts but warned against its hastiness. In 2019 he personally presented the repeal of the SSDA to the Senate after the Slatsen Government arrested the Saren Ambassador to Slattsenw. The SSDA’s repeal came after stringent miscommunication between the SID, NIA, Slatsen Government and Department of Foreign Affairs. In 2020, asked about the prospects of a renewal, Cosgrin stated that the Slatsen side would need to initiate such negotiations.
Presidential Campaign
Peter Cosgrin announced he would pursue the office of President in late September 2020, he quickly secured the needed signatories by mid-October and became the first on the ballot. His political rival, Garry Macintosh also competed in the 2020 Election which ultimately resulted in the election of Peter Cosgrin as the 73rd Saren President.
Presidency
On 3 July 2021, Peter Cosgrin became the President of the United Republic of Sarenium; he became the oldest President upon entry to office and the first, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He also became the first Saren President in the twenty-first century to have been born during the Second World War. On 28 July, 2021, he turned 75 and the day after began his first official visit as President, to Slattsenw.
