Philibiscostal (/fɪlɪbɪsˈkɔːstəl/; French pronunciation: [filibiskɔstal]), officially the Republic and Canton of the Metropolitan Arrondissement (French: République et canton de l’Arrondissement métropolitain), is one of the twenty-four cantons of Omerica. Bordered by the Free State to the north, the Avonian exclave of Cravenshire to the south east and the Vermilion Bay to the west, Philibiscostal is a polycentric metropolitan area and is commonly identified as a potential future megacity. The canton is the second largest by population and forms the financial and cultural capital of the Commonwealth.
Inhabitants of the canton are referred to as métropolitains.
