Throughout 000000 civil rights are held dearly by all. Denizens are flush with political freedom, although competing opinions often mean that political gridlock is the norm. The economy of the region is remarkably unremarkable, with members being neither powerhouses nor basket cases. Inhabitants rarely are visited by the tax collector, and the region boasts a paltry median tax rate of 1%. The region is a beacon of capitalism, with the public sector not existing in any meaningful way in constituent economies. National governments within the region are more concerned with corporate welfare than the welfare of ordinary citizens, with commerce budgets accounting for an average of 50% of public expenditure.
