1up is a minuscule region, inhabited by a few solitary nations and only 2 World Assembly Members.
The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of 1up eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Nations in the region are considered developing democracies, with some political freedoms afforded to denizens. The economy of the region is very strong, with a large number of very powerful trading powers. The median tax rate of the region is 26%, but is frequently higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the private sector, with on average 28% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 3% of public expenditure.
In 1up, denizens are afforded a reasonable education, although funding is somewhat wanting. The region's law enforcement is arguably too well-equipped and overzealous, arresting citizens who dare to commit the most minor of infractions. Defense is a major priority for governments within the region, with a large chunk of government budgets being devoted to it. Public transport is a popular mode of transport in the region, receiving on average of 4% of total government budgets.
Nobody really knows about the state of administration in 1up. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Welfare in the region is minimal, with only a small amount of expenditure being devoted to spending on social security. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.
