Ellorea is a small region, sparsely populated by only 8 nations and only 2 World Assembly Members.
In Ellorea, denizens enjoy their civil rights, although not too much, or too freely. Denizens are flush with political freedom, although competing opinions often mean that political gridlock is the norm. Families in the region are so obsessed with the economy that the discussion of laffer curves and supply-side reforms over dinner is a regular occurrence in member nations. Denizens suffer under an enormous tax burden throughout the region, with a median tax rate of 51%, and much higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the private sector, with on average 16% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 7% of public expenditure.
Ellorea values education extremely highly, and denizens compete for the largest number of university degrees and sprawling book collections. Crime is low: the region enjoys well-equipped and well-funded police forces, coupled with efficient but fair judicial systems. Defense is a major priority for governments within the region, with a large chunk of government budgets being devoted to it. Public transport is an afterthought, with only 1% of total government budgets in the region being devoted to it.
Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Ellorea. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Governments generally endow their healthcare departments with a large amount of funding, with an average of 7% of government budgets across the region being devoted to healthcare. Welfare in the region is minimal, with only a small amount of expenditure being devoted to spending on social security. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.
Social inequality is a major problem within Ellorea, although some effort has been made to correct the problem. Natural environments are quite bad, although some measures have been undertaken to ensure that the environment is protected.
